Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a fishing license to fish on a Montauk charter boat?
No, when you fish from a charter boat in Montauk you do not need a fishing license because you are covered under our charter boat license.
When should I reserve a trip?
We recommend making your reservation as far in advance as possible. All trips should be made as far in advance as possible so you can reserve your preferred date and time slots. Half-day trips are first-come, first-served, so it pays to reserve early because these trips can fill up fast.
Is a deposit required?
Yes, a deposit is required to reserve a date for your charter trip. Your deposit is for the service of our holding that reserved date and time that you requested. Full payment is required in cash (preferred) or credit card by the end of your trip. Visa and MasterCard are accepted but incur a 3% processing charge.
What is your cancellation policy?
If we need to cancel your trip due to weather deemed unsafe by the captain, we can reschedule you for another date and use your deposit towards your new date. Cancellations made within 14 days of a scheduled departure will forfeit the deposit. No-shows forfeit their deposit.
Does the boat have a head/bathroom?
Yes our charter boat has a head (bathroom).
Do you fish with live bait?
Live bait is your option, and eels can be purchased at the marina.
What should we bring when fishing from a charter boat in Montauk?
Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, towel and camera! We suggest closed-toe shoes with non-skid soles. Most athletic shoes work great. It’s cooler on the water, so even on a mild day it’s smart to bring a jacket or sweatshirt. You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages. Alcoholic beverages are okay too. If you plan to keep your catch, bring a cooler or waterproof container for your trip home.
